2. To address the manpower shortage in the hospitality industry and to align with Taiwan's talent retention and recruitment policies, the Ministry of Labor has amended certain provisions in the "Regulations on Employer Permits and Management of Foreign Workers". The key amendments are as follows:
(1) Foreign students, overseas Chinese students, or other ethnic Chinese students who hold an associate degree or higher from a recognized university in Taiwan are now eligible to be employed in legal tourism hotels, inns, and guesthouses for roles such as room service, cleaning, reservations, reception, and restaurant floor service (Amended Article 2).
(2) In line with the above, the employer's application to hire foreign nationals now includes documents for hiring foreign students, overseas Chinese, or other ethnic Chinese students for hospitality services (Amended Article 44).
(3) Foreign students, overseas Chinese students, or other ethnic Chinese students with an associate degree or higher may change employers or jobs after their contract for hospitality services ends and is not renewed (Amended Article 48).
(4) Amended the work permit validity period for Category 4 foreign nationals (Amended Article 54).
